Instrumental Methods
This course is designed to acquaint undergraduate and graduate students with the theory and interpretative techniques of Gas Chromatography (GC), Mass Spectrometry (MS), Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS), Fourier Transform-Infrared (FT-IR), Nuclear Magnetic resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy and Spectrophotometer. While the material covered in this course is mainly for undergraduate students, it would also be appropriate as an introductory course at the graduate level for those students lacking a background in chemical spectroscopy and spectrometry. It is assumed that the students in this course have had at least two years of organic chemistry. Thus, they have had at least a cursory exposure to the theory and interpretation of organic spectra.
