A study of radioactivity, solutions and electrolytes, ionization, properties, and reactions and uses of important metallic and non-metallic elements. The course includes an introduction to qualitative analysis.
1. Students will develop an understanding of atomic structure, bonding and intermolecular forces.
2. Students will develop an understanding of the states of matter, phase transitions and the unit
3. Students will develop an understanding of solution properties including equilibria and kinetics
4. Students will develop and understanding of acid base chemistry, electrochemistry and oxidation and reduction reactions.
5. Students will develop an understanding of nuclear chemistry, and chemistry and periodic properties of the main-group elements.
